Matcha Crinkle Cookies

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside – and really green 💚

These Matcha Crinkle Cookies are the perfect little treat for in between: crispy edges, a soft core, and an intense green color that makes them an absolute eye-catcher. Our high-quality Ceremonial Matcha not only provides the vibrant appearance but also gives the cookies a pleasantly fine, slightly bitter note that wonderfully harmonizes with the sweetness of the powdered sugar.

Some cookies are simply more beautiful than others – and these little crinkle treasures are definitely among them. The typical cracks on the surface are created during baking by the contrast between moist dough and a generous layer of powdered sugar. And the best part: The green color doesn't come from food coloring – it comes from ourCeremonial Matcha, which gives the cookies a fresh, delicate aroma.

The recipe is completely vegan, guaranteed to succeed, and perfect if you want to impress guests or simply treat yourself. With just a few ingredients and little effort, you can create little treats for any cookie lover.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • For more intense color: UseCeremonial Grade Matcha, not cheap cooking quality. Our organic matcha takes color and flavor to a new level.
  • You can also let the dough rest in the fridge overnight – this intensifies the flavor.
  • If stored airtight, the cookies will stay fresh and soft for 4-5 days.
Can I bake the cookies gluten-free?

Yes! Just use a gluten-free flour blend (e.g., rice flour, cornstarch, and tapioca) and make sure you use gluten-free baking powder.

Does it really have to be Ceremonial Matcha?

Yes, if you want flavor AND color! Ceremonial grade is finely ground, mild in flavor, and provides the rich green color. Cheaper cooking matcha is often bitter and colorless after baking.

Why are the cookies soft after baking?

That's intentional! Crinkle cookies are soft and chewy on the inside. They harden slightly as they cool, but remain nice and soft – perfect!

Can I use less sugar?

You can reduce the sugar in the dough by about 20–30%. But keep in mind: The typical "crispy" surface is created by the sugar contrast—it won't work without it.

What is the best way to store cookies?

They'll keep for 4–5 days in a cookie tin or a glass jar with a lid. For longer, you can also freeze them and thaw them in batches.
