What is Matcha?

What is Matcha ?

Matcha is grounded green tea in its purest form, but contains more secondary plant substances ( color, fragrance, and flavor) and is therefore better than conventional green tea.

What makes Matcha powder so healthy is the high content of healthy antioxidants that support the immune system and have anti-aging benefits. Because unlike green tea, where the tea leaves are only brewed in hot water, with matcha you drink the whole grounded tea leaves. This explains the more intensive taste of Matcha.

quality guarantee

What does Ceremonial mean and how can you recognize the highest quality?

Our Ceremonial Organic Matcha is of the highest quality, which means that leaves from the very first harvest in spring were used. These are particularly mild in taste and differ in quality (taste and color) from all subsequent harvests that follow in the other months of the year. another difference in quality is the harvesting and processing by hand. hardly any machines are used in the harvesting of our matcha. The first leaves are picked by hand, gently steamed and ground with granite stones. No pesticides are used in cultivation. Annual soil samples and laboratory tests for heavy metal and radiation contamination are carried out to ensure the best possible quality. In addition, each batch is carefully checked for its mineral properties. Our quality is confirmed by the strict standards of the organic certificate of the Japanese certification body JONA and the German organic certification.

Our tea farm is a traditional family business that has been in operation for several generations and has been producing organic matcha for several decades.

The tea farmers protect the plants from the sun with black textile sheets or, traditionally, straw. Solar panels are also used. Annual soil samples are taken, as well as laboratory tests for heavy metal and radiation contamination, to ensure the highest possible quality. Furthermore, each batch is carefully tested for its mineral content.

  • origin

The Matcha tea growing region is one of the best and oldest in Japan: the Uji region, west of Osaka. The region is known for its clean water and nutrient-rich soil, free of pesticides. The climate is ideal: mist from the Uji and Kizu rivers keeps the tea plants moist and reduces the risk of frost damage.
