quality guarantee

What does premium quality mean and how can you recognize it?

Our organic matcha has a premium quality, which means that the leaves are from the very first harvest in spring. These are particularly mild in taste and have a better quality (taste and color) from all later harvest of the year.
Another big difference in quality is that the leaves are harvested and processed by hand. Hardly any machines are used in the harvest of our Matcha. The first leaves are picked by hand, gently steamed and grinded with granite stones. The cultivation is done without the use of pesticides. Annual soil samples and laboratory tests focusing on the heavy metal and radiation exposure are executed to ensure the best possible quality. In addition, each batch is carefully checked on its mineral properties. Our quality is confirmed by strict standards of the organic certification of the Japanese certification body JONA and the German organic certification.

The perfect matcha preparation

  1. Add 1-2 bamboo spoons of matcha to the bowl.
  2. Add about 70–100 ml of hot water (80 °C).
  3. Use a Chasen (matcha broom), to put the tea in M- or to strike forcefully with W-shaped movements.
  4. Within a few seconds, a creamy, fine foam forms – ready to enjoy. The heart-shaped spout helps you pour.

Sustainable matcha bowl from Portugal

Each Kumo Chawan is carefully handcrafted in a small Portuguese factory. The round shape is traditionally molded and then fired at 1180°C, creating a particularly durable and everyday matcha bowl.

In production, we rely on regional raw materials and resource-saving processes. Reduced emissions, recycling processes, and energy-efficient firing methods make each chawan not only a long-lasting but also responsibly produced companion for your tea ritual.

From production to packaging, we place great importance on the responsible use of resources.

Residual materials are recycled, energy is saved through modern combustion processes, and waste heat is reused. Photovoltaic systems, water treatment, and recyclable packaging complete the sustainable process.

With this bowl, you are choosing quality that combines environmental awareness and design.
