The Kumo Chawan Cocoa Haze combines traditional ceramic art with modern design. Crafted from high-quality Portuguese ceramic and finished with a distinctive glaze, this matcha bowl is the ideal vessel for your tea ceremony—elegant, functional, and timelessly beautiful.

Each bowl is carefully handcrafted in our workshops in Portugal. A one-time high-temperature firing at up to 1180°C creates a robust, fully vitrified surface that's resistant to heat, scratches, and wear. This makes the chawan perfect for everyday use.

The glaze Cocoa Haze impresses with its warm, earthy tones and unique color gradients. Thanks to the reactive glazing technique, each bowl is a Unique with a distinctive character – perfect for adding a special, natural touch to your matcha ritual.

In our Portuguese workshops, we combine centuries-old craftsmanship with modern technology.

Each bowl is produced using an energy-efficient firing process, resulting in a smooth, vitrified surface. This makes it resistant to heat and wear – a piece of pottery that will remain a faithful companion for many years.

We focus on material reuse, energy-efficient firing technologies, and the use of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics. 

Water resources are conserved, and only recycled and recyclable packaging is used.

Your matcha ritual begins here:

  1. Add 1-2 bamboo spoons of matcha to the bowl.
  2. Add about 70–100 ml of hot water (80 °C).
  3. Use a Chasen (matcha broom), to put the tea in M- or to strike forcefully with W-shaped movements.
  4. Within a few seconds, a creamy, fine foam forms – ready to enjoy. The heart-shaped spout helps you pour.

Their Matcha-Moment with the Kumo Chawan:

  • Add 1-2 bamboo spoons of matcha to the bowl
  • Add 70–100 ml of hot water (approx. 80 °C)
  • Whisk with the chasen in loose movements until a fine foam is formed
  • Thanks to the round shape, the matcha can be whipped optimally and enjoyed directly from the bowl

Made in Portugal

Each Kumo Chawan is carefully handcrafted in a small Portuguese factory. The round shape is traditionally molded and then fired at 1180°C, creating a particularly durable and everyday matcha bowl.

In production, we rely on regional raw materials and resource-saving processes. Reduced emissions, recycling processes, and energy-efficient firing methods make each chawan not only a long-lasting but also responsibly produced companion for your tea ritual.
