Hojicha (ほうじ茶) Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that is refined through a special roasting process. Unlike classic green teas, Hojicha is heated to a high temperature after steaming, which gives it its typical brown color and mild, nutty aroma.

It is usually made from bancha or kukicha and originally comes from Kyoto.

Is Hojicha green tea?

80–90 °C is optimal. Water that is too boiling can overemphasize roasted flavors.
