Ingredients

  • 1 tin chickpeas (drained)
  • 2–3 garlic cloves
  • 1–2 tsp HEALTHBAR Matcha
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 3–4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • Salt, pepper & cumin to taste

Topping:

  • A little olive oil
  • Black sesame

🧑‍🍳 Here's how – step by step

1. Preparation
Rinse the chickpeas and leave to drain.

2. Blend
Put all the ingredients into a food processor or powerful blender. Blend until a smooth, creamy consistency forms. If needed, add a little water or extra oil.

3. Season
Season to taste with salt, pepper and cumin. If you like it more lemony, add a little more lemon juice.

4. Serve
Transfer the Matcha hummus to a bowl or onto a plate, drizzle with a little olive oil and top with black sesame. Optionally serve with bread, crackers or fresh vegetables.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • For extra-smooth hummus: briefly blanch the chickpeas in hot water and slip off the skins (optional).
  • Dose the Matcha carefully – better to use less and add more gradually.
  • Also delicious: as a spread in wraps, bowls or sandwiches.
Can you taste the Matcha strongly?

The flavour is subtle – more earthy and nutty than bitter. With our Ceremonial Matcha the hummus stays mild and rounded in aroma.

Can I use other pulses as well?

Of course! The recipe also works with white beans or edamame. The colour changes slightly depending on the base.

How long does the Matcha hummus keep?

Airtight in the fridge for about 3–4 days. Stir well before serving.

Does the recipe also go with sweet pastries?

Not really – it stays a savoury dip. But as a spread in savoury waffles or pancakes: definitely!

Can I also freeze the Matcha hummus?

Yes, you can freeze it in portions. It's best in small airtight containers or ice cube trays. To serve, let it thaw slowly in the fridge and stir well before serving. The flavour is wonderfully preserved – including the Matcha!
