Matcha crinkle cookies

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside – and really green 💚

These Matcha Crinkle Cookies are the perfect little treat: crispy edges, a soft center, and an intense green color that makes them a real eye-catcher. Our high-quality ceremonial matcha not only gives them their vibrant appearance but also lends the cookies a pleasantly delicate, slightly bitter note that harmonizes beautifully with the sweetness of the powdered sugar.

Some cookies are just prettier than others - and these little crinkle treasures are definitely one of them. The typical cracks on the surface arise during baking due to the contrast between moist dough and a generous layer of powdered sugar. And the best thing: The green color doesn't come from food coloring - but from ours Ceremonial Matcha, which gives the cookies a fresh, delicate aroma.

The recipe is completely vegan, sure to succeed and perfect if you want to impress guests or simply give yourself a special treat. With just a few ingredients and without much effort, small highlights are created for every cookie lover.

✨ Ingredients for approximately 12 cookies

  • 200g sugar
  • 80g coconut oil or melted vegan butter
  • 30 ml plant-based milk (e.g. oat or almond)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150g flour
  • 5g Ceremonial Matcha – to the product
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 35 g powdered sugar (for rolling)

🧑‍🍳 Here's how – step by step

1. Preheat oven Oven on 170 °C top/bottom heat Preheat. Place the powdered sugar in a shallow bowl – this will later become the “sugar blanket”.

2.Mix liquid ingredients In a large bowl, stir together sugar, coconut oil, non-dairy milk and vanilla until smooth.

3.Sift in dry ingredients Add the flour, matcha, baking powder and salt to the mixture through a fine sieve and mix with a spoon to form a firm dough. The dough is tough but easy to shape.

4.Form dough balls & roll From the dough 12 equally sized balls Shape, roll in powdered sugar and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper - leave some space!

5. Bake & to cool Cookies for 12 minutes Bake. After that, absolutely let cool on the baking tray – they harden as they cool.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • For more intense color: use Ceremonial Grade Matcha, not cheap cooking quality. Our organic matcha takes color & taste to a new level.
  • You can also let the dough rest in the fridge overnight - this intensifies the aroma.
  • The cookies stay fresh and soft in an airtight container for 4-5 days.
Can I also bake the cookies gluten-free?

Yes! Simply use a gluten-free flour mixture (e.g. rice flour, corn starch and tapioca) and make sure you use a gluten-free baking powder.

Why are the cookies soft after baking?

This is intentional! Crinkle cookies are soft and chewy on the inside. They harden a little as they cool, but remain nice and soft - perfect!

Can I use less sugar?

You can reduce the sugar in the dough by about 20-30%. But note: The typical “crinkle” surface is created by the sugar contrast – it doesn’t work without it.

What is the best way to store cookies?

They will keep for 4-5 days in a cookie jar or jar with a lid. For longer periods, you can also freeze them and defrost them in portions.
