Where does our Health Bar Matcha come from and how is it grown?

Our tea farm is a traditional company that has been in the family business for several generations and has been producing organic matcha for several decades.
The growing area for matcha tea is one of the best and oldest tea growing areas in Japan: the Uji region, west of Osaka. The region is known for its clean water and nutrient-rich soil, free of pesticides. There is a suitable climate on site: the fog from the Uji and Kizu rivers keeps the tea plants moist and reduces the risk of frost damage. Tea farmers traditionally protect the plants from the sun with straw. This increases the amount of chlorophyll in the leaves and softens the taste. Cultivation takes place without pesticides. Annual soil samples and laboratory tests for heavy metal contamination are carried out in order to deliver the best possible quality.

In addition, each batch is carefully checked for its mineral properties.

Our quality is confirmed by strict standards of the organic certificate from the Japanese certification body JONA and the German organic certification.

What does ceremonial mean and how can you recognize the highest quality?

Our Ceremonial Organic Matcha is of the highest quality, meaning leaves from the very first harvest in spring were used. These have a particularly mild taste and differ qualitatively (taste and color) from all subsequent harvests that follow in the other months of the year.
Another difference in quality is harvesting and processing by hand.
Hardly any machines are used to harvest our matcha. The first leaves are picked by hand, gently steamed and ground with granite stones.

Cultivation takes place without pesticides. Annual soil samples and laboratory tests for heavy metal and radiation levels are carried out in order to deliver the best possible quality. In addition, each batch is carefully checked for its mineral properties.

More energy, better concentration. Matcha contains less caffeine than coffee and develops its effects gently. While the caffeine in coffee enters the bloodstream within 30-45 minutes, with matcha this process lasts a full 6 to 8 hours, which is a huge advantage. This prevents high surges of adrenaline and insulin, which only puts the body under unnecessary stress. The high amount of L-theanine and other nutrients also have a positive effect on the immune system.
